Anybody living or working in the Netherlands is entitled to medical care as provided in the basic care insurance package. This is laid down in the Health Care Insurance Law (Zvw). You need to have a basic health insurance contract for this.
For physical complaints in movement or posture you consult a physiotherapist. Some examples of these complaints: back aches, neck/shoulder complaints, sports injuries, post-operative recovery.
For a visit to a physiotherapist you don’t need to be referred by a doctor. Everybody has direct access to this type of care.
Physiotherapeutic care is paid for through the additional health care insurance. A contract for this can be added to the basic health care insurance. If you don’t have this additional insurance you will have to pay for physiotherapy yourself. M-Visio has a pin device.
The first visit includes intake + treatment; for this there is a different rate than for following visits.
If you have chronic complaints, they should be mentioned in the “list of chronic complaints”. This is a special situation for payment: The first 20 treatments have to be paid for by you, or through the additional insurance. The next series of treatments is paid for through the basic health insurance, up to a maximum number of months. For this situation you need to be referred by a doctor.
Cancelling an appointment must be done at least 24 hours before the appointed time, failing to do so means you will have to pay the bill for the consult.
